About the Department

  • Established in the year 2009, conducts the Programme B.E. Aeronautical Engineering with a vision to attain excellence and global reputation in Aeronautical Engineering education and research.
  • Aeronautical Engineering is one of the most challenging fields of engineering with a wide scope for growth.
  • This Programme deals with the development of new technology in the field of aviation, Space exploration and defense systems.
  • Specializes in designing, construction, development, testing, operation and maintenance of both commercial and military aircraft, spacecraft’s and their components as well as satellites and missiles.
  • The curriculum of Aeronautical Engineering includes maintenance as well as design aspects of the present day aviation and aerospace engineering.
  • It prepares graduates with knowledge, problem solving ability, hands-on skills to take-up career in the design, installation, manufacturing, testing, evaluation, technical sales, or maintenance of aeronautical/aerospace systems.

The Graduates of Aeronautical Engineering will:

Engineering Graduates will be able to:

  • Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
  • Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
  • Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
  • Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
  • Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
  • The engineer and society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.
  • Environment and sustainability: Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.
  • Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the engineering practice.
  • Individual and team work: Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse teams, and in multidisciplinary settings.

  • Harita Tech Serv has Signed MOU with Mahendra, for set up Mahendra -Harita Research Center for New Product Development and Manufacturing Technologies was inaugurated at MEC campus on 11th March 2014.
  • The main objective is to create a Pool of Strong Industry Ready Talent from the Students undergoing Engineering. Bridge the GAP BETWEEN INDUSTRY REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS TAUGHT IN ACADEMIC COURSE.
  • Groom Engineers who are highly conversant with Design processes involving need-finding, ethnographic field work, rapid prototyping and testing.
  • So far more than 40 students were placed in reputed companies like VOLVO, Atlas Copco, SCL, Honey well, TVS motors, based on this Tie-up.
2. BAROLA TECHNOLOGIES – Chennai
  • Bridging gap between Corporate and University.
  • Provide opportunity for training / internship to students of MAHENDRA ENGINEERING COLLGE financials to be decided on case to case basis.
  • Exploring areas for co-operation on continuous basis.
  • BAROLA AERO SPORTS will provide on-site training to students on high-end technologies which are commonly used in industry through workshop(s) and Course(s) the cost of which would be decided on case to case basis.
  • All other relevant activities of mutual interest to Barola Aero and MAHENDRA ENGINEERING COLLGE subject to understanding on a pro rata basis.
